Patrick sings the role of 2nd Apprentice in Wozzeck on Saturday 11 November.
Wellington-born Bass-Baritone, Patrick Shanahan, has recently completed his Bachelor’s in vocal performance and is now studying honours at Te Kōkī - New Zealand School of Music (NZSM), the student of renowned vocalists Margaret Medlyn and Wade Kernot.
Shanahan has been privileged to perform in many amazing productions including; The chorus for the Days Bay Opera production of Bellini’s ‘La Sonnambula’, Rhadamanthus in Offenbach’s ‘Orpheus in the underworld’ and Pandolf in Massenet’s Cinderella with the NZSM, and Chorus for Wellington Opera, performing in Donizetti’s ‘Lucia di Lammermoor’ and Verdi’s ‘La Traviata’, also taking on the role of Flora's Servant in this production.
Shanahan has also been blessed with many concert performance opportunities, including singing in a masterclass with Simon O’Niel, Madeleine Pierard, and Sasha Cooke Natalie Murray Beale hosted by the New Zealand School of Music. I also have performed DeLalande’s ‘Te Deum’ with Queens Closet and portrayed the roles of Raphael and Adam alongside Richard Gregor and Caroline Burchell conducted by Thomas Nikora in ‘Haydn’s’ Creation with St Peter’s Orchestra and Cantoris Choir.
