Give an extraordinary gift

Leave a legacy for the Orchestra Wellington Foundation

Orchestra Wellington strives to be the most accessible orchestra in the country

We want to enable people from all walks of life to experience the thrill of live performance.

Each year we reach more than 100,000 people: audience members hearing the most thrilling symphonic works in the concert hall, young musicians playing side-by-side with our musicians, and thousands of children who experience our Music to Schools programmes in their schools.

Orchestra Wellington Foundation was established to help support goals important to the Orchestra

Things such as helping musicians and composers on the path to a professional and sustainable career and taking performances out into our communities.

By leaving a gift to the Orchestra Wellington Foundation in your will, you will ensure that your love for music lives on. Your legacy will ensure that others receive the same enjoyment from music as you do, and the orchestra can continue to bring joy to communities across our region for many years to come.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you would like to know more contact Kerry-Anne Gilberd, our partnership manager

Absolutely. We believe that the only way anyone should find out about the contents of your will during your lifetime is if you choose them to, and we will never ask you to tell us your wishes.

Of course, if you do want to let us know that you have remembered Orchestra Wellington in you will, we would love the opportunity to say thank you. We might also discuss whether you would like your gift to go to a particular use and we will try to fulfil such wishes wherever possible. You can let us know how often you want to hear from us, and whether you’d prefer we write or call.

We believe in the importance of family and we understand that your loved ones come first. That’s why we would always encourage anyone considering leaving a gift to take care of those close to them first.

A planned gift can be any gift that you intend to give the Foundation at a later time, but would like them to know about now. Some of those things may be:

  • Leave shares of personal property to the Foundation
  • Leave a gift in your will
  • Make the Foundation the beneficiary when you are winding up a trust or private Foundation
  • Pledge a multiple year gift

When Orchestra Wellington receives a gift from an estate, that money goes into our Foundation. Instead of using the money right away, your gift will build the principal of the Foundation’s funds.

Orchestra Wellington uses the interest on the principal to help us reach our objectives, whether that is players’ salaries, internships for young musicians or community outreach programmes.

It you are passionate about music education, your gift will help fund our education initiatives – like our Music to Schools programme, or our internship for talented young musicians from disadvantaged communities.

Thank you very much for your generous support.

If you have decided to leave a gift to Orchestra Wellington, the words you will need to add to your will are:
“I leave a gift to The Orchestra Wellington Foundation Trust Board, 35 Victoria Street, Level 3, Wellington 6011, Charity registration number CC23685”
