Kiri and Lou Live in Concert Programme
Saturday 29 August, 2:30pm
Michael Flower Centre
This August, the Michael Fowler Centre will transform into a vibrant, prehistoric forest of sound, laughter, and friendship. Orchestra Wellington is thrilled to announce a spectacular, interactive family concert bringing the award-winning New Zealand animated series Kiri and Lou to life on stage at the Michael Fowler Centre on Saturday, 29 August 2026 at 2:30pm.
Kiri and Lou Live in Concert is a welcoming, high-energy event tailored specifically for children aged 3+ and their whānau. The performance features the show’s deeply loved claymation characters projected onto a giant screen, accompanied by the full power of a live orchestra performing catchy, award-winning songs by renowned New Zealand composers Harry Sinclair and Don McGlashan. The show is presented by the one and only Liv Tennet, voice of Kiri!
For many young Wellingtonians, this afternoon will mark their very first steps into the magical world of live instruments.
“These events are a central part of the mahi of Orchestra Wellington. Bringing joyful musical experiences tailored to young audiences is not just great for families, it’s a must for Wellington’s only regional orchestra as we strive to ensure that the future of Aotearoa’s cultural capital is a place where the arts continue to thrive for generations to come!”
-Orchestra Wellington
Kiri and Lou is a beautiful extension of that philosophy. It is an invitation for families from all across our region – from Karori to Wainuiomata, up to Porirua and over to Masterton – to gather together, sing along, and experience the pure, spine-tingling joy of a live orchestra in a completely relaxed, inclusive environment.
Everyone is warmly encouraged to act as advocates for the arts by “playing it forward”. Do you know a child or a family who would love to experience Kiri and Lou live? Invite your friends, neighbours, and wider whānau to join you in making the Michael Fowler Centre a shared community living room for the Wellington Region on the afternoon of August 29th!
Tickets are on sale now, but with a community target of filling the hall with 1,800 arts lovers, families are encouraged to secure their seats early to be part of this unforgettable children’s highlight.
