Ballet Collective Aotearoa

Ballet Collective Aotearoa joins us in 2026 for CREATION on 22 August, 7:30pm at the Michael Fowler Centre.

The BalletCollective Aotearoa is a new project-based contemporary ballet company, made up of some of New Zealand’s leading professional ballet dancers, exciting young graduates and student dancers seconded from the New Zealand School of Dance.

Launched in 2020, Ballet Collective Aotearoa‘s (BCA) first project was Homemade Jam, featuring the choreographic talents of Cameron McMillan, Loughlan Prior and Sarah Knox. Homemade Jam evolved to become BCA’s 2021 premiere season Subtle Dances featured in both the Auckland Arts Festival and the Dunedin Arts Festival

In 2022 & 2023 BCA created various projects including Transfigured Night with Chamber Music NZ, Miraculous Mandarin with Orchestra Wellington, and Taitoko Kanikani Collective.

“This long-awaited premiere season of a new contemporary company, Ballet Collective Aotearoa, was nothing short of a triumph”. (Jennifer Shennan for Michelle Potter on Dance)
