Trust Porirua City Brass
Porirua City Brass joins us in 2026 for COLOSSAL on 22 August, 7:30pm at the Michael Fowler Centre.
Porirua City Brass is a community brass band proudly making music in and representing Porirua for more than 50 years.
Founded in 1970, PCB is one of New Zealand’s younger brass bands. While many New Zealand bands trace their origins much earlier, Porirua’s was founded during the city’s early years and has established a proud place in Aotearoa’s banding community.
The band won its first national contest in D Grade and quickly rose to B Grade, where it still competes today.
PCB has nurtured generations of musicians, from talented youth to those still playing decades later. Its bandroom has welcomed many outstanding musicians, including jazz icon Rodger Fox, members of the National Band of New Zealand, and several founding members who continue to contribute today.
The band is now preparing for the 2027 Australian National Brass Band Championships in Canberra, as it takes on its first international trip since 1978.
“It’s honestly so exciting to be able to play with such a great orchestra, it’s such a great opportunity for the band. I can’t wait to hear the enormous sound we can produce with all the brass players and the choir!”
– Neariah Jackson, trumpet (she/her)
