Waiata Anthems Programme

Sunday 12th of July

7pm

In 2019 Waiata Anthems debuted at No.1 in the NZ Music Charts – the first 100% reo Māori album to do so – and spent 16 weeks in the NZ Top 40.

Experience the original songs from this iconic multi award-winning album, as Orchestra Wellington and the next generation of up-and-coming young Waiata Anthems artists pay tribute to the album that helped start a movement.

These talented rising stars will perform songs, reimagined for orchestra, such as Tami Neilson’s ‘Roimata|Cry Myself to Sleep’, Stan Walker’s ‘Tēnā Rā Koe|Thank You’, Drax Project’s ‘I Moeroa|Woke Up Late’ and many others.

Join us for this unique concert collaboration as we come together to celebrate Matariki and honour waiata reo Māori.

Upcoming events

From the enthralling performances at the prestigious Michael Fowler Centre to dynamic street concerts in iconic Wellington locations, every interaction with us is an immersive journey into the heart of live orchestral music.
