Barbara joins us in 2025 to perform in THE ARTIST REPENTS on Saturday 22 November.
Native New Yorker and adopted Kiwi Barbara Paterson is delighted to return to sing with Orchestra Wellington in 2025. An experienced operatic and concert soprano, Barbara is also a sought-after specialist in contemporary, inter-disciplinary and experimental art music.
She has sung as a soloist for Stroma, Java Dance, the Aotearoa NZ Festival of the Arts, the CANZ annual Nelson workshops, Wanderlust Theatre, NZ Opera, the Audio Foundation, Orchestra Wellington, the Auckland Chamber Orchestra, Unstuck Opera, NIMBY Opera, CubaDupa, the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, The Queen’s Closet and as a soloist for choral societies around NZ.
Barbara is currently an Artist Teacher of Classical Voice at Te Kōkī New Zealand School of Music. She has full teaching studios at Wellington East Girls' College and Samuel Marsden Collegiate School, where she is also the vocal coach for the schools’ award-winning choirs, and she has conducted Wellington’s Capital Choir since 2018.
