2024 BIG BASH

Get ready for Orchestra Wellington's annual Big Bash!

Sunday 6 October, 1-4pm Lower Hutt Events Centre

FOR PARTICIPANTS:

There are some important things to note before you arrive for this year's Big Bash:

  1. Location: Lower Hutt Events Centre at 30c Laings Road, Hutt Central, Lower Hutt 5010. See map below showing the venue and nearby parking areas. 

  2. Timings: Please arrive no later than 12:45pm. Rehearsal runs from 1-3pm, then a short break before our free concert for community, family, and friends at 3:30pm. 

  3. Bring with you: Your instrument(s), a music stand, a pencil, and any mutes that may be required (as per your part).

This year's repertoire includes movements "Mars" and "Jupiter" from Gustav Holst's The Planets, and "Montagues and Capulets" from Sergei Prokofiev's Romeo & Juliet Suite No 2! Follow the link below to download your chosen parts.

ABOUT THE BIG BASH

First held in 2020, Orchestra Wellington's Big Bash is our annual mass play-in event which brings together hundreds of instrumentalists from across the Wellington region in a glorious afternoon of music-making.

Conducted by Orchestra Wellington's Music Director Marc Taddei, all together we will rehearse and then perform a much-loved works. This year's repertoire includes movements "Mars" and "Jupiter" from Gustav Holst's The Planets, and "Montagues and Capulets" from Sergei Prokofiev's Romeo & Juliet Suite No 2!

Anyone is welcome to come along and watch both the rehearsal and the performance entirely for FREE. Rehearsal runs from 1-3pm. The performance will begin at approximately 3.30pm.

We have unfortunately reached the maximum capacity for participants at this year Big Bash and are no longer accepting registrations. Please feel free to join us from 3:30p for and exciting, free community performance of our 2024 Big Bash massed orchestra!
