This production offers a reimagined perspective on Haydn’s visionary work, merging timeless music with modern creativity. Presented by the mighty Orpheus Choir Wellington, it promises to captivate and inspire with an extraordinary celebration of art and innovation.

Joseph Haydn's oratorio The Creation celebrates the creation of the world and is considered to be one of his greatest masterpieces. It draws from varied sources, including the Book of Genesis, the Biblical book of Psalms, and John Milton's Paradise Lost.

Beginning with a musical "Chaos", The Creation then depicts each of the 7 days of the bible's creation narrative. These start with a stupendous celebration of the primal light, then the Earth itself and the heavenly bodies. Next, back on Earth, it shows the growth of oceans, global weather, and plant life.

Haydn’s composition of musical genesis is a masterful blend of tension, beauty, and joyous celebration, where music and storytelling merge to depict the world’s formation, from the primordial chaotic overture to the dawn of life.

The performance will feature stunning special effects, Footnote New Zealand Dance, and a cinematic LED screen that enhances the narrative of our universe’s formation.

Joining Orpheus Choir Wellington are the exceptional talents of soprano Anna Leese, tenor Frederick Jones, bass Robert Tucker, and Orchestra Wellington, all under the brilliant direction of conductor Brent Stewart.

Reserve your seat today and be part of this spectacular, unmissable event.
